Cycling the Carolinas for New Life Cycling events begin on the North Carolina coast on May 16, with currently scheduled cycling events thru June in the mountains of the High Country surrounding Boone. Cookie will be cycling in the "Cookie Box" with Dr. Jim Taylor, a volunteer and Board Member of New Life Mobility Assistance Dogs, in her effort to help raise money for the training of other rescued shelter dogs, like herself, to assist persons with disabilities. All events will
begin at 9:00am.
May 16, 2009 - The Currituck Beach Lighthouse Leg - 10 miles and 25 miles May 23, 2009 - Ashe County - The Huskie Leg - 10 miles and 25 miles May 30, 2009 - Wilkes County - The Eagle Leg - 7 miles and 25 miles June 13, 2009 - Watauga County - The Pioneer Leg - 10 miles and 25 miles Announcement: Due to road closing along route of Pioneer Leg scheduled for June 13 it will be rescheduled for the fall --- date will be announced later.
The Cookie Challenge Cookie is the Mobility Assistance Dog of Karen Brown, founder of NLMAD. Please Join The Cookie Challenge at your school or organization to help Cookie raise money for New Life Mobility Assistance Dogs to train Assistance Dogs for persons with disabilities.  Cookie's elegant covered traveling box! Cookie says: We would like to hear from you on ways you can think of for helping me. One way which is often done is to take pledges for each mile I ride. For example, sponsor me for 10 cents/mile. That would be a donation of $10 for the 100 Miles. (Four 25 mile legs are currently scheduled.) Any amount will be appreciated as it will all add up to help Karen train some more much-needed assistance Dogs. How about a "Cookies For Cookie" Bake Sale??? (...this sounds really yummy to me...) For the school or organization who raises the most money to support New Life Mobility Assistance Dogs there will be a trophy and a special visit from me to thank you and to show you some of the things I do for Karen.
